Looking to Add Color to Your Space?
Color can really do wonders for a living space, but it can also leave us wondering, how we should use it. Luckily, Mark McCauley over at HGTV put together some great tips for adding color to your home.
Where to start? McCauley says using a pattern from drapery, upholstery, a rug, artwork, etc. can be a great starting point and is also much less expensive than painting walls to establish a scheme. Another thing to keep in mind? Current trends. He says, "today the trendy undertone color is yellow, so you get 'sage' greens, 'hot' reds and 'lilac' blues. Keep that in mind when you're deciding on your color scheme."
Worried your color will be too much? Then incorporate a few black pieces throughout a room to both enhance and clarify the colors you've used.
Thinking of adding bold color to the textiles? McCauley suggests bringing the fabric home and living with it before you buy it. Then you'll see how the fabric looks in the space and you'll know you love it before you devote more time and money to it.
