Need a Little Fence Inspiration?
Fences can be an important part of any yard, especially when we have children and pets spending time outdoors, yet they can also feel boring or typical. If you’re thinking about building a fence for the first time or replacing your current one, you may want to have a look at the “12 Delightfully Different Garden Walls and Fences” Matthew Ankeny from Houzz came up with. These unique approaches to the fence are truly stunning. Here are a few of my favorites:
This sculptural fence looks more like an art installation than it does a fence. Built 8-feet tall to keep deer out, the only downfall of this piece is the high price tag Ankeny says it comes with.
These poured concrete walls are amazing, especially considering the fun that can be integrated into them. Check out the rock wall on the left, a fun activity for kids (especially in these warm summer months). I adore the natural texture of the concrete, which Ankeny says was created by pressing rough-cut 2-by-4’s against the surface.
Finally, I like the fence and hedge idea because it feels naturally private. The English laurel hedges achieve much more height than the small cedar wall and it creates a unique atmosphere. Ankeny says that because many fencing ordinances dictate fences to be 6 feet or under, a hedge is a great way to add privacy to a yard and I agree.
